Starflower Christmas Layer Cake

 Starflower Christmas Layer Cake

Starflower Christmas layer cake is a beautiful and delicious cake that can be made for the holiday season. It's a layered cake that is decorated with star-shaped flowers made out of frosting or fondant.

To make the cake, you will need:

For the cake:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 large eggs, room temperature

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup buttermilk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the frosting:

2 cups unsalted butter, softened

8 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup heavy cream

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Green and red food coloring

Star-shaped cookie cutters

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare three 8-inch cake pans by greasing and flouring them.

In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, making sure to mix well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk and vanilla extract. Mix until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the cakes are cooling, prepare the frosting. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add in the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and creamy.

Divide the frosting into two separate bowls. Add green food coloring to one bowl and red food coloring to the other bowl, mixing until the desired color is achieved.

Once the cakes are completely cool, level them if necessary, and spread a layer of green frosting on top of one of the cakes. Place another cake on top and spread a layer of red frosting on top of that. Repeat until all three cakes are stacked and frosted.

Use a star-shaped cookie cutter to cut out star shapes from the remaining frosting. Place the stars on top of the cake in a decorative pattern.

Chill the cake in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving. Enjoy your beautiful and delicious starflower Christmas layer cake!
